The reason the sand is only launched when its falling is considering when its falling it becomes an entity, not a block. This is the same reason tnt is launched when ignited too (ignited tnt is an entity).
Its unlikely, but I wonder if this would piece of work on whatsoever block beingness moved past a piston as well.

You just gave me (in my humble opinion) vivid idea.
What if there was some kind of gravity enchantment, working like to silk impact, except making all blocks collected to deport like sand/gravel when put in world grid?

Y'all could have sand wars! Fling sand at the other players launcher to mess up the water source block then they can't launch back. TNT could fly but far enough to blow upward as it reached the water. If you protect the water with cobble the TNT can explode merely it tin can't go far plenty to really land and remove the water source block. Therefore you will need sand to fill in the water slot. The objective would exist to eliminate more sand cannons than your opponent. Probably have about 5 each. You could even place teams by having one side be sand and the other be gravel! (dunno if this is possible, just an idea)

cool video, never idea virtually making the sand bounciness between cannons. to anybody maxim its been done already: NO SH*T nosotros take had sand/gravel cannons since in that location was TNT, sand, slabs and redstone, pistons just gave the ability to automate the process.

I don't call back sand moves through the air faster than redstone current moves through wire/repeaters, still it does require far less wiring (and simply works once).

I was mycommentaccount1911, and i did brand it so that when you do it, it launches the sand to a powered repeater to open up a door. its fun :P

Using a cart corner button, a invisible catechism activator was easy to build. Not sure how to take it from there. This is a fun tool though. Thanks for sharing!
